A kitchen looks clean when the benches are clear. It is clean when the range hood filter, the wall behind the stove and the tops of the cupboards have been done — and those are exactly the three that a weekly wipe-down never reaches.
In most Croydon homes the kitchen is the room that works hardest and gets the least thorough attention, because the visible surfaces get wiped often enough to feel handled.
Where kitchen grime actually accumulates
What our kitchen clean covers
| Element | Standard | On request |
|---|---|---|
| Surfaces | Countertops, benchtops, cabinet faces, splashbacks and light switches wiped down | Inside cupboards emptied and wiped |
| Appliances | Exterior of oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher | Oven interior |
| Sink and tapware | Scrubbed to remove food debris and water marks, tapware polished | Descaling heavy mineral build-up |
| Grease removal | Range hoods, stovetops and ventilation filters degreased | Wall and tile degreasing behind the stove |
| Floors | Vacuumed and mopped, including edges and under cabinets where accessible | Grout detail |
A real Croydon job
A recent client had months of cooking residue under the range hood and behind the stovetop — the kind that builds so gradually nobody registers it happening.
Her verdict afterwards: “It finally feels like my kitchen again.”
Why it is worth doing properly
| Benefit | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Appliance life | Grease build-up makes a range hood motor work harder and loads the ducting |
| Fire risk | Accumulated grease is flammable, and a loaded filter is the worst place for it |
| Odour | Trapped residue is what makes a kitchen smell of last week rather than today |
| Presentation | The kitchen carries more weight than any other room when someone walks in |
| Your time | It is the room people most want to stop cleaning themselves |
How often each part needs doing
Not everything in a kitchen belongs on the same schedule. Trying to do it all weekly is why weekly cleans blow out; leaving it all to a yearly deep clean is why the build-up gets to the point this client’s had.
| Task | How often | Why that interval |
|---|---|---|
| Benches, sink, stovetop, splashback | Every clean | Daily use, and the difference is immediately visible |
| Appliance fronts and handles | Every clean | Touched constantly, and fingerprints show |
| Floor, including edges | Every clean | Where everything that falls ends up |
| Inside the microwave | Monthly | Quick, and unpleasant if it is left much longer |
| Cupboard fronts detailed | Monthly | Airborne cooking oil settles on them steadily |
| Range hood filter | Every three to six months | Grease loads it gradually, and it is flammable |
| Inside the oven | Every six months | Substantial job; carbon bakes harder the longer it waits |
| Wall and tiles behind the stove | Every six months | Where the oil film that the filter missed ends up |
| Tops of cupboards | Every six months | Dust plus airborne oil makes a sticky layer nobody sees |
What to ask a kitchen cleaner
Kitchens are where the difference between a thorough cleaner and a fast one shows fastest. Four questions sort it out.
- Is the range hood filter included, or extra? If they do not mention it at all, they are not doing it.
- Do you clean the tops of the cupboards? The honest answer is “on rotation”. “Every visit” usually means neither.
- Is the oven interior in or out? It should be quoted separately, because it needs its own time.
- What do you use on the splashback? Different answers for stone, tile and glass is a good sign; one answer for all three is not.

Frequently asked questions
Is oven cleaning included?
The oven exterior is standard. The interior is on request — it is a substantial job on its own and needs the time booked for it.
How often should a kitchen be deep cleaned?
The daily surfaces are handled by a regular clean. The filter, the wall behind the stove and the cupboard tops suit roughly every six months, or as part of a spring clean.
Can you get yellowed oil stains off tiles?
Usually, yes, with the right product and enough dwell time. Where the staining has gone into unsealed grout rather than sitting on the tile, we will tell you what is realistic before starting.
